Key Selection Parameters

  • How do I determine the required flow rate for my pump?

The flow rate depends on the rotational speed and differential pressure. You need to provide the required operating flow range, outlet pressure, and liquid viscosity. We will select the suitable model based on performance curves. Please note, the pump's actual flow rate is the theoretical flow rate minus internal leakage, which increases with higher differential pressure.
  • How is the "Outlet Pressure" of the pump determined?

The gear pump generates a "Differential Pressure". Outlet Pressure = Inlet Pressure + Pump Generated Differential Pressure. It is essential to ensure that "Inlet Pressure + Required Differential Pressure" is less than the pump's Maximum Allowable Working Pressure.
  • How does liquid viscosity affect pump performance?

    1) Flow Rate: High-viscosity liquids reduce internal leakage; under the same speed and differential pressure, the actual output flow is greater than for water.
    2) Power: High-viscosity liquids increase rotational resistance, requiring a larger motor power, and it is advisable to reduce the speed to prevent cavitation and excessive energy consumption.
    3) Temperature Rise: High shear may cause temperature-sensitive liquids to degrade.
  • Can the pump handle corrosive liquids (e.g., acid or alkali solutions)?

Yes. Our products consist of multiple components. Each component can be configured with suitable acid/alkali-resistant materials based on specific working condition requirements, enabling effective resistance to specific acid or alkali media.
  • Can I use a gear pump if my liquid contains particulate matter?

Yes, but extreme caution is required. Due to the extremely small internal clearances (tens of microns), particles can easily cause jamming or wear. We strongly recommend installing a 300-400 mesh filter at the pump inlet. The filter itself must be compatible with the liquid and have sufficient flow area to prevent excessive pressure drop.
  • Are there limitations on the operating temperature? What is the maximum temperature it can withstand?

The standard operating temperature range is -90°C to 150°C. Non-standard customization can extend this range to -120°C to 150°C.
  • Which chemicals can the gear pump handle?

It can handle dialysate, liquid urea, anhydrous alcohol, ethylene glycol, aviation kerosene, silicone oil, lubricating oil, transformer oil, ammonia water, sodium hydroxide, sodium hypochlorite, ozone and other disinfectants, Freon, fluorides, and other media.
Our products consist of multiple components. Each component can be configured with suitable specialized materials resistant to specific acids or alkalis based on working condition requirements. Please consult sales for specific material compatibility.
